Curriculum Vitae

Forensics Expertise
Dr. Maureen Dolan is a Research Assistant Professor at the Arkansas Biosciences Institute at Arkansas State University and is co-founder of a molecular diagnostic development company, Nature Diagnostics Inc and its Arkansas-based subsidiary, Nature West Inc. Relevant to the area of forensics, she has experience in human, animal and plant gene regulation and applying molecular biology tools for animal and plant species identification. Dr. Dolan has developed DNA- and protein expression-based high throughput testing platforms for transgenic plant assessment as well as commercial efforts that develop PCR-based species identification diagnostics for the retail seafood and botanical medicinal markets. Dr. Dolan was instrumental in designing and teaching the biological forensics modules of our CSI Summer workshops and has designed and/or instructed in a number of Biotechnology educational programs including the ABI Biotechnology Outreach Program at the Arkansas Biosciences Institute.

Curriculum Vitae

Forensics Expertise
My forensic background has both educational and professional components. I was employed in the 1980’s by the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent. I was stationed in Las Vegas on the Reactionary Task Force. My job duties included bank robbery investigation, extortion cases, and child pornography. I worked with forensic scientists on crime scene investigation and evidence collection on a regular basis.

The educational component consists of training in the area of computer forensics and security. I have attended boot camps and training seminars in forensic computing and have gained familiarization with some of the top computer forensic tools (EnCase & FTK). I also attended a computer security boot camp and completed the requirements for the Computer Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) credential, which the highest recognized credential in computing security. I have recently completed instruction of an undergraduate course in computer security preparedness and am scheduled to teach an undergraduate course in computer forensics in the fall.
